Grant Skilton, together with his family run a large scale Pork Production and Cattle Grazing operation on farms at Westmere and Pakaraka. In addition, he has close connections to the Dairy andCroppingindustries, and also to Food Production and Forestry. As a significant rural community stakeholder, Grant is committed to ensuring the rural perspective is reflected in all decisions made by Council. In particular he is concerned at the level of rates paid in Whanganui, and that as a rural community we need to make sure we are getting good value for that level of rating. Grant has leadership and governance experience gained from many years as a Company Director in the Pork Industry, and formerly through an active role at many levels within Young Farmers. Grant is married with a young family and has served six years on the Whanganui Rural Community Board, including as Chair and Deputy-Chair.
