My principal place of residence is in the Whanganui subdivision area.

My wife Julie and I live on our farm at Ngaturi in the Mangamahu district. The livestock farm is leased, and I am currently overseeing a significant expansion of the kiwifruit block we started over 40 years ago. I have now completed two terms on the Rural Community Board, the last three years as deputy chair, which included about six months as acting chair.

The issues of phone and internet connectivity and roading are likely to be the board’s biggest areas of focus for the next term. There have been improvements in connectivity over the six years, but there is still some way to go. Our rural roads I see as being a major problem, with cost increases far exceeding any potential increases in funding.

I am therefore seeking support to continue as one of the two Rural Community Board representatives for our region.
